Hi everyone,
Well the excitement has already begun for us. Our family is currently living four (4) hours north of Toronto in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada and we began our journey this morning (3rd of April) at about 9:30 am. It seemed like a short jaunt to Toronto, but when we greeted the clerk at the Air Canada check-in and she saw our itinerary to Sweden, she was very impressed at how far we were prepared to travel (just for hockey).
From one Northern location to another across the world and we think nothing of it. It sounds like our team is coming from all regions of the US, Canada and Sweden. What a great opportunity to see the spirit of internationalism at its best! I think it is the diversity of the exchange that is the most alluring for us.
Stay tuned for introductions to our players. As our teammates are coming from three different countries, we are going to take some time to learn about who each player is, share the background of their home towns and try to give you a glimpse of what makes them click as the trip unfolds. It might be a bit
sporadic depending on when I get the info.
This is Connor MacLeod and he played this season as a Forward with the Sudbury Bantam AAA Wolves in the Northern Ontario Major Bantam AAA hockey league (NOBHL) :

For those of you who don't know much about our home town of Sudbury,
it is the home of the Sudbury Wolves of the Major Junior Hockey league
in the OHL in Canada. It is the Nickel capital of the world and aside
from producing the majority of nickel for the world and providing some
of the best mining services available in the booming mining industry, the City is also renowned
for producing an unprecedented number of really gritty hockey players
(aka - they get lots of penalities). To get a glimpse at what our
little city looks like, you can check a few shots in my photo album on
the City of Sudbury found on the left hand side. Ok, so there is lots of ice and snow, but isn't it pretty.... well sort of?
For those of you who
are familiar with the hit television series called Chilly Beach, you will
be pleased to know that it was created and it is currently produced in
the small northern city of Sudbury. In Chilly Beach, all of the
misconceptions and stereotypes about Canadian life reign true. Of
course Chilly Beach is a land of ice and snow, where polar bears prowl
the area and dog sleds are the norm for transportation.
The animated show follows two hockey crazed Canadians on various adventures. You can check it out at Chilly Beach
